Grade 4 alpaca roving is a similiar diameter as sheep's wool but without the itchness. It has all all the good qualities of alpaca like water resistance and hypo-allergenic. If you're not familiar with alpaca, this might be an affordable choice to experimment . Grade 4 is considered  durable  and a good choice for outerwear, socks, blankets . This roving is clean and consistent and easy to spin . Grade 4 is called  "medium"  and in some older grading systems was refered to as  "Adult".  The fibers range between 26.0 to 28.9 microns.
Grade 4 fiber is also a good choice for felting and lighter colors may also be dyed successfully. To get an idea of the natural colors listed, please use the refernce color chart  above.
